Okay, it doesn’t seem to work for me, but I’ve tested it with b2evolution and it works fine. It also works internally with my own blog. Maybe the MT standalone implementation has some bugs somewhere, but I really have no idea. :-)
It tells me the ping is successfully sent, when I try….
Aha! Apparently it was picky about me not escaping the ampersand in the URL. I switched it to & and it worked. I honestly have no idea why I thought to try that, but woot. :)
It’s probably something I should build into the WordPress trackback module as your URL should be the only argument. It wouldn’t be hard to do the fix from my side.
I tested the same link on half a dozen other sites and none of them munged the % signs. Obviously this is no big deal from my point of view, but if you’re still testing your trackback support, I thought you’d want to know.
But why didn’t my trackback show up on the previous post?
I don’t know… mine showed up on your site. I tried trackbacking my own post and it worked. Have you been able to post trackbacks on other sites?
Yes, but maybe I used the wrong URL. I’ll try again. :)

I’m using WordPress… there doesn’t seem to be any reported bugs with trackbacks.

Is that the URL I should be pinging?

I just tested it (I deleted the originating post). It works – that’s the right URL.

That’s & :-)
Where is the ampersand? In your post URL?
Yeah. Technically the URL I was submitting was invalid HTML and XML, because you’re supposed to HTML escape strings even inside tags.

My script is standalone anyway, I still need to tweak it. :)
No worries…

Interesting — I used your kind and generous trackback page to test a trackback from the URL:
http://www.shadows.com/shadows.aspx?url=http%3a%2f%2fwww.movabletype.org%2ftrackback%2f
…but it got recorded here as:
http://www.shadows.com/shadows.aspx?url=http3a2f2fwww.movabletype.org2ftrackback2f

Everyone is welcome to test their trackbacks using this post.
