Paradigm release
July 15th, 2003
BOCA RATON, FL – It is with great pleasure that I am announcing the release of my ninth CD, PARADIGM. Work on PARADIGM started in 2001 and ended in May 2003. There are ten tracks on the CD. They are:
- Tapestry: A collection of reflections on the complexities of everyday life. This track is quite experimental combining ambient, symphonic, and more trance-oriented electronica. Tapestry is the introductory track to PARADIGM. The voices contained throughout are intentionally muffled (I’m also in there, if you can find it). The voice samples cover a variety of topics from the decision to eat more pie to an argument to an interview with an author. This is probably one of the riskiest and progressive tracks I have written. The structure is very loose and there is a fair amount of abstraction throughout. The bass is deep and the piano is dark. The synthesizers are used to contrast to the more fluid parts of the music.
- Shelter: Down tempo trance with structured, layered synthesizers and progressive beats. This song was originally called Shelter is a Paradise. It took quite awhile to complete. Although the individual parts were composed, sampled, and performed without too much trouble it ended up being awhile before the final version was put together.
- Distant: Ambience from far away.
- Distant Memory: A song about remembering good times. Distant Memory is inspired by the song Distant Realms which was released on Technetronic. This version is faster than the original and offers a completely different take on the idea.
- Beyond the Border: Features surrounding bass, fast-paced piano, and a variety of synth pads. Beyond the Border is based on The Border, from my first CD, Transcendental. Transcendental also included The Border (Crisis Version) as well as a mix of As We Go and The Border. This song was inspired by a visit to Israel a few years ago which gave me an opportunity to peer across a tense border.
- Lost: Layers of disorientation.
- Found: A song about finding hope featuring piano and strong transitions.
- Nothing: This song features piano, strings, bass, and synthesizers. This is a song about loss, confusion, and resolve. This was the first song completed for PARADIGM. The original title was Prelude to Nothing. The title was changed because the personal meaning of the song had also changed due to events in my life.
- Alone Together: A slow, deliberate, deep song depicting the integral bond between trust and intimacy. Alone Together is another take on a song originally written for Technetronic, Alone, and then later revisited in Prophecy, Alone (Solitaire Version). While the first two incarnations of the song focused on isolation, this one is about removing those barriers.
- Landscape: A trance mix of all fourteen tracks in my previous album, Habitat, with lots of variety. Features a variety of tempos, lots of synths, and heavy beats. Landscape was written about 9 months after the last song on Habitat was completed. It was interesting revisiting the work and sorting through the huge amount of samples, selecting the ones I wanted to use (and including many new sounds as well). As always, feedback is welcome and encouraged. This song was originally called Habitat: Landscape.
I also created the artwork for the CD, which is based on a fractal. The CD itself looks very nice (the packaging is totally different from my previous releases). You can see what some of the artwork is like by downloading some of the PARADIGM desktop wallpapers available here: http://www.mayron.net/?c=2003_06_01_archive.php#95293699.
You can preview most of the tracks at http://www.mayron.net/?c=paradigmpreview. The previews are about 42 seconds long and are available in MP3, WMA (Windows Media), RM (Real Media), and OGG (Ogg Vorbis) formats. Additionally, you can download four of the tracks (Shelter, Distant Memory, Nothing, and Landscape) in their entirety for free at http://www.mp3.com/liam.
I put many, many hours of work into this album and had a great time creating it. I am especially grateful for the support of my fans from across the globe who helped me pass ten thousand listens on MP3.com yesterday for the first time and a thousand listens in June 2003 alone. I hope you enjoy my work. If you do have a listen a short note letting me know what you think of it would be greatly appreciated.

I’m in the process of updating my MP3.com site in preparation for the official release of Paradigm on July 15th. The updated design is already live and an updated picture of me should be live on that site sometime tomorrow.

Despite having a ton of Engrish on the English version of the site this looks like it will be a great game.
