Music Exec: ISPs Must Pay Up for Music-Swapping

Link

The fight against piracy has just begun. This would be catastrophic if it went through. ISPs cannot be held responsible for the actions of their users that are not covered in their terms of service agreements. For example, if you have signed an agreement with your ISP not to send spam e-mail (which you likely have, read the fine print) then accountability is at stake. The illegal distribution of copyrighted material is the fault of the user, not the ISP. The solution is to ease licensing agreements. Create a free, legal, format for music that cannot be redistributed thousands of times without referencing the original copy. This link was submitted by Darien.
